I’m Anne Reid, a colourist and abstract expressionist artist based in North American.. My work blends vibrant colors and spiritual symbolism, creating pieces that invite reflection and emotional connection. Each painting starts with spontaneity, as I allow the canvas to guide me, painting freely and exploring the unknown. The process of creating is an unfolding conversation with the artwork itself, where I listen, clarify, and bring its message to life.
My art is deeply rooted in faith and my personal relationship with Abba, my heavenly Father. I believe that all of God's work is motivated by love, and through my art, I aim to express His messages of hope, peace, and joy. I view art as a way to communicate divine inspiration, drawing from the richness of scripture and the beauty of His creation. Just as God is the greatest artist, I consider myself a co-creator, learning to communicate through my art the profound love and peace I experience in my spiritual journey.
Spiritual themes run deep throughout my work. I create symbolic pieces that reflect my connection to divine narratives, such as my "Israel Series" and paintings like Dove, Ruth and Burning Bush. These pieces weave together abstract forms with powerful spiritual symbols, reflecting my belief that God reveals Himself not only through nature but also through creative expression. My art explores the beauty that emerges in moments of chaos, illustrating how God creates all things new, turning ashes into beauty.
The art I create is not just an expression of emotion; it is a profound spiritual exploration. It’s my deepest joy to visually express the glory of the Creator through my artwork, translating the worship experience into tangible form. My inner life, steeped in the Word of God and prayer, informs the subjects I explore, allowing His messages to overflow into my paintings.
As a colourist specializing in acrylic abstract expressions on paper and canvas, I embrace the freedom of abstract creation. Every painting begins in an abstract fashion, where I tune into spontaneity and see what emerges. Once I identify the message, I focus on refining it with intention and clarity. While creativity has always been central to my life, I fully embraced the artist's vocation in 2016 as a second career. Since then, I have exhibited my work in solo and group exhibitions, sold pieces to interior designers, and completed numerous commissions, all while continuing to grow in my craft.
