A silent procession burns forward—figures draped in light, crowned in flame. The atmosphere holds tension: a moment between hiding and revealing, between exile and arrival. At the front, one raises both arms, calling the rest to move.
This is Rahab 13, part of the Rahab Series within the larger Israel Collection. Drawing inspiration from the biblical Rahab—the woman who sheltered Israel’s spies—this painting captures a liminal moment: when courage turns direction into destiny. These torchbearers don’t face us. They lead.
Anne Reid’s colourist technique breathes into each figure. Layers of translucent golds and cadmiums push through deep navy and teal, while dry brush textures build atmosphere. Faces remain undefined. That’s intentional. They are vessels of fire, not individuals of fame.
For hospitality spaces—boutique hotels, spas, cruise suites—Rahab 13 delivers a visual anchor. Designers may pair it with Rahab 11 or Rahab 12 for a dual-panel feature or display it solo to evoke movement and collective focus. For palette integration tips, visit the blog: “Fire Hues in Interiors.”
